How To Identify Original Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater pearl looks fascinating, but it is essential to identify original freshwater pearls so that you do not get cheated. It is very difficult to recognize the real and fake pearls for a novice buyer, and so the below tips might come in handy when identifying freshwater pearls:

• Surface examination: An imitation pearl might appear grainy while a real one should appear as fine grained.
• If the pearls appear flawless, they are probably fake. This is because cultured pearls have blemishes on them; a good one should have minimal flaws.
• When you compare a real pearl in one hand, and a fake pearl in other, real should appear heavier, fake ones are almost weightless.
• Rub the pearl across the upper front teeth, if they feel rough, then you have the right pearl, however, if the pearl feels smooth and they seem to slide through then you might have the wrong one.

The above points might help you in choosing the right freshwater pearl, apart from their captivating look they also form a part of your jewellery collection, in fact, start collecting pearl jewellery and make the most of its enthralling and charming look.
